We get two old rivals scuffling along heading into Week 6 Monday Night Football. We’ll have live updates on the spread and notable news for the 49ers-Packers MNF matchup.

Fan picks against the spread

SB Nation’s team sites are running weekly FanPulse polls to assess what a focus group of fans thinks about their team. One question is whether the team will win or lose, and by how much. We can set that against the spread to check out their accuracy week-over-week. The MNF spread has the Packers as a 9.5 point favorite. Packers fans are predicting a seven point win, while 49ers fans are predicting an 11 point loss. Both teams are scuffling, and this prediction shows some uncertainty from both fanbases. The Packers are expected to win, but even Packers fans aren’t sure they can cover the spread.

Betting preview

Week 6 comes to a close on Monday Night Football with a matchup that is not nearly as interesting as it was when the schedule was announced. The Green Bay Packers host the San Francisco 49ers in a primetime matchup that was going to be a showcase of Jimmy Garoppolo vs. Aaron Rodgers. Instead, we get C.J. Beathard in place of an injured Jimmy Garoppolo and a Packers team struggling to get their offense in gear.

The line opened with the Packers installed as a 7.5 point favorite, with a point total of 46.5. It should surprise nobody that movement was fast and furious, according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark. The spread climbed as high as Packers -11, before settling down at 9.5. Some sportsbooks are still offering ten and 10.5, but don’t expect much additional movement the rest of the week. The public money is going to remain on the Packers unless this line gets a big bump, and sportsbooks will simply be left rooting for the 49ers.

The most notable injuries heading into this game are on offense. 49ers running back Matt Breida is doubtful with an ankle sprain. He has been arguably the most valuable player on the 49ers offense to date, and would be a big loss heading into Week 6. Packers wide receiver Randall Cobb did not play in Week 5 due to a hamstring injury, and will be the name to watch on Green Bay’s practice participation reports this week.
