Hernan Perez’s commitment to giving Mike Moustakas a Gatorade bath is inspirational

What a trek.

In Game 1 of the Rockies - Brewers NLDS Game 1, the Brewers were ahead for most of the game until the Rockies managed to tie it up in the top of the ninth and force extras. In the bottom of the 10th, the Rockies walked Christian Yelich who made it to third after an intentional walk and a fielder’s choice bunt from Curtis Granderson. Then a cracking single to right field from Mike Moustakas sent Yelich home for the win.

We’re here for what happened after that though, because what happened after that is a journey everyone needs to witness. Hernan Perez decided he wanted to give Moose a Gatorade bath in celebration, and once he decided that was going to happen he didn’t stop until it came to fruition. He took that Gatorade cooler (which, based on the later dumping still seemed decently full) all the way from the dugout to the far reaches of the outfield.

Just look at this trek.

It’s like a Terrence Malick movie. Just one man and a cool of Gatorade, making their way across the vast wasteland of a deserted baseball field as teammates celebrate together in the distance. It’s damn near inspirational. Put it on a poster and sell it to college students who pretend in September that they’ll study for finals in December.

After that long walk — after all of that Perez got to the outfield and hit Ryan Braun with way more of the Gatorade than Mike Moustakas. Strong effort, shaky execution. That was probably a great shoulder workout though.
