Aegean Airlines’ new safety video stars Antetokounmpo, and it’s a good one.
Giannis Antetokounmpo is having a great year on the court, which has turned into a slew of new endorsement deals. His latest is this unique airplane safety precautions video for Aegean Airlines, a Greek airline.
Delta spices their safety precaution videos up every once in a while with new faces, but none of them have Antetokounmpo going into obscure places to show you the dos, don’ts, and Precautions In Case This Shit Goes Wrong for your flight.
This video has layers. First, I just want to note the leg room that Antetokounmpo, a 6’11 human, has here:

Sure, the scene doesn’t take place on an Actual Airplane, but that shot is a tease. Antetokounmpo could comfortably dribble through that kind of space.
He then demonstrates how to fasten a seatbelt, a very common first step in these videos. Except, suddenly, a tug of war breaks out over his belt:

Antetokounmpo then walks over into a kind-of beach area that’s not really a beach area and sits down with some old ladies who are knitting.
That’s when the masks pop out. I want a still of this scene:

Antetokounmpo then somehow emerges from the bottom of a small boat to display life jacket use, which only kind of makes sense. But I get it — he’s putting on a show, and it’s a really good show.

Eventually we get to the boring parts of every safety precaution video where they remind you to turn off your cell phone and not to smoke. Antetokounmpo’s phone goes off (it’s probably either Rich Paul or Woj, or both) and a woman shoots him this look:

Here, I thought the airline would go for the ultimate flex and show Antetokounmpo squeezing himself into an airplane lavatory. They did not:

However, they did flex one more time about their leg room. Antetokounmpo even has his right leg extended for good measure. I think that’s the underlying “sell” here.

Antetokounmpo didn’t really giving these instructions any more impressively than anybody else would have, but it’s still weird to see him doing a routine thing many of us have experienced. Most NBA players are out here selling sneakers and hamburgers.
If somehow this whole NBA thing doesn’t work out for Antetokounmpo, he’s got a solid backup career as a flight attendant.
