Philadelphia 76ers Notes
The 76ers added Jimmy Butler through a trade earlier this season and were active at the deadline as well, making a trade with the Los Angeles Clippers for all-star Tobias Harris.
Harris joins an already stacked starting lineup with Butler, Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons and JJ Reddick, and this lineup’s potential was on display last Sunday in a 143-120 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers. The East is loaded with tough contenders this season, but Philadelphia has certainly put itself firmly in that mix with its in-season moves.
A win over Boston would be good for the 76ers’ confidence. Philadelphia is just 2-8 SU and ATS over its last 10 games against Boston including last year’s five-game playoff series per the OddsShark NBA Database.
Boston Celtics Notes
Boston was enjoying a solid run of 10-1 SU and 5-5-1 ATS over its previous 11 games before suffering an extremely disappointing homestand last week. The Celtics blew an 18-point lead in a 129-128 loss to the Lakers last Thursday and then a 28-point lead against the Clippers last Saturday.
Worse still, in the Clippers loss, Kyrie Irving aggravated his knee. The injury isn’t expected to be serious, but it will keep the Celtics star out of this one against Philadelphia.
Celtics at 76ers Betting Total
Tuesday night’s total is set at 226 points at sports betting sites. The UNDER is 5-1 in Philadelphia’s last six games.
If Milwaukee, Toronto and Indiana stay ahead of the 76ers and Celtics, these two teams would meet in the first round of the playoffs in the No. 4 vs. No. 5 matchup. Philadelphia enters Tuesday’s game with a one-game lead over the Celtics for the No. 4 seed, so Irving’s absence is no small thing. The 76ers should be highly motivated to earn the win here and get one step closer to home court in the first round.
