NBA besties forever.
Tobias Harris and Boban Marjanović are the NBA’s best odd couple, and getting traded together to Philadelphia is too perfect to quantify in words.
The pair became fast friends when they met in Detroit 2016 and have been inexorably linked every since. It wasn’t long before videos started popping up on their Instagram pages teasing the union of Bobi & Tobi, and things haven’t been the same ever since. They are delightful unicorns, bonded together through teamwork, friendship and circumstance to form something beautiful.
Perhaps the most amazing thing about Bobi & Tobi is that in a cruel league known to rip friends apart by business they somehow keep managing to stay together. Complementary contracts have turned them into the perfect package deal, and being traded to Philly is the second time they’ve moved teams together.
They were first traded together to the Clippers in January of 2018 as part of the package that brought Blake Griffin to the Pistons, now they’ve been traded again to the 76ers— a package that centered around Harris, who’s having the best season of his career.
Bobi and Tobi are everything that’s great about the NBA rolled into one neat package. A league where players from every background and culture can be mashed together on a small enough team that players can’t help but be close. This is how a 7’3” Serbian dude and a former Mr. New York Basketball can become BFFs.
I love Bobi and Tobi, and you should too. Also, now they’re on a team with Joel Embiid which is going to be GLORIOUS.
