Golden State Warriors
The Warriors ended the 2017-18 season on a 6-0 SU and 5-1 ATS run, sweeping the Cleveland Cavaliers to win their second title in a row and their third in the last four years.
Free agency concerns loom at the end of this season, but Golden State embarks on its quest for three straight NBA championships with its big four of Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green intact; and DeMarcus Cousins set to join them when he returns from injury in the second half of the season, too. It’s difficult to find a weakness in this group.
Despite finishing the regular season with the third best record in the NBA last season at 58-24 SU, the Warriors went just 34-47-1 ATS per the OddsShark NBA Database.
Oklahoma City Thunder
Oklahoma City’s plan to trade for Paul George before last season in hopes of talking him into signing an extension over the course of the season worked out perfectly as George decided to ink a four-year deal with the Thunder this offseason.
George, Russell Westbrook and company will try to bounce back from a disappointing first-round exit last season after the team went 48-34 SU and 34-47-1 ATS during the regular season. The Thunder went 8-8 ATS as a betting underdog last season.
Tuesday night’s total is set at 224.5 points. The UNDER is 7-0 in Oklahoma City’s last seven games as a double-digit underdog.
Golden State has lost each of its last two regular season home openers outright. Given how much success the Warriors have had against the Thunder in recent seasons, that trend is likely to come to an end in this one.
